Roger Fries, the CEO of Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance since its inception, announced Monday he will retire in 2013.
"Leading KEMI has been a great honor for me," Fries said in a statement. "It is exciting to think about what the employees in this organization have accomplished since KEMI opened in 1995, and while I look forward to spending more time with my wife, children, and grandchildren in retirement, I will remain KEMI's biggest fan."
During his tenure, Fries has also served on the board of the Workers' Compensation Research Institute, as well as on committees for the American Insurance Association, according to a statement.
KEMI's board of directors plans to begin recruiting Fries' successor in the fall.
