Kentucky Downs, Churchill seek more race dates

The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission's race dates committee will consider revising the Thoroughbred calendar to allow three days of spring racing at Kentucky Downs in Franklin, which has added instant racing machine betting and boosted purses.

The race dates committee met beginning at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Rolex Stadium conference room at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

Most of the Thoroughbred tracks made nearly identical requests, although Churchill Downs also asked for five more days in the fall, and Turfway Park asked for three fewer dates for its winter holiday meet.
