Mountjoy Chilton Medley, Kentucky's largest full-service accounting firm, and McCauley Nicolas CPAs & Advisors, the largest Southern Indiana CPA firm, have merged effective Monday. The combined firm has retained the name Mountjoy Chilton Medley.

The merger also combines the firms' independent wealth- management operations — Capital Asset Management and Meritrust Wealth Management — to form a full-service registered investment adviser and financial services firm. The combined group has maintained the Meritrust Wealth Management name and has seven financial advisers with approximately $500 million in assets under management.

This is the fourth merger in the past three years for Mountjoy Chilton Medley, a firm created in November 2009, when Chilton & Medley merged with Mountjoy and Bressler. In August 2010, MCM merged with Hawkins Co., a Louisville-based CPA firm specializing in financial institutions, and in November 2011, MCM added Pat McCafferty, CPA, a Cincinnati-based accountant specializing in the hospitality industry.

The firm has offices in five cities in three states: Lexington, Frankfort, Louisville, Cincinnati, and Jeffersonville, Ind. It employs more than 110 CPAs.

Recently, MCM was ranked by Accounting Today's Top 100 as the 102nd largest accounting firm in the United States, based on net revenue.
