Numerous job seekers filled the Embassy Suites hotel on Newtown Pike on Wednesday as global law firm Bingham McCutchen held a job fair for its soon-to-open operations center here.

The office, which is expected to employ 250, will bring together administrative support staff positions from a range of departments, including finance, human resources, information technology, marketing and operations. The company estimates that the opening of the office will cost $22.5 million.

The site is expected to open in the spring, with work being transferred to it through spring 2014. The 250 jobs are expected to pay an average hourly wage of $37 including benefits.

Among those applying Wednesday were Alex Dixon, who works for an online learning company in Louisville. Dixon applied to be a technology education specialist.

The job would be similar in pay, but "I'm more looking at the environment that the company has and their commitment to charity, volunteerism ... and social responsibilities," he said. "That's something that's really very important to me."
