Business closings, openings and anniversaries: Week of Jan. 21

■ Right at Home, a provider of in-home elder care and assistance, has opened a franchise in Lexington. The company, whose local franchisee is Eric Hudson, was founded in 1995 by Allen Hager, a hospital administrator, who was concerned that patients needed additional assistance after their discharge from the hospital.

Right at Home has more than 270 locations across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Brazil and China.

Hudson began his franchise using the services of FranNet, a Louisville-based company that helps match people interested in opening a franchise with the right brand and opportunity for their personality and needs.

Monessen Hearth Systems Co. has changed its name to Vermont Castings Group. Under the new name, the company will continue to grow and support its four brands — Vermont Castings, Majestic, Monessen and Ambient Technologies.

The overall structure, size and organization of the company remain the same, with headquarters remaining in Paris. No personnel changes are expected as a result of the corporate name change.
