Kim Woods, vice president of advertising and inter active at the Bradenton Herald newspaper in Florida, has been named vice president of advertising for the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Woods replaces Jeff Anderson, who left the Herald-Leader earlier this year to join advertising agency Meridian Chiles.

Herald-Leader Publisher Rufus M. Friday said Woods, who starts May 6, has grown advertising revenue year over year at the Herald, where she has worked since June 2011.

"The team and I are really excited to have Kim join us," Friday said. "She has a very solid and proven track record every place that she's been in growing advertising revenues, and she also has a strong sense of community."

Before joining the Bradenton Herald, Woods was vice president of advertising at The Herald newspaper in Rock Hill, S.C. She has more than 20 years of experience in advertising sales and management with The McClatchy Company, the Herald-Leader's California-based parent company.

Woods said she's excited to join the Herald-Leader and was impressed by Lexington's "progressive business climate" and its welcoming people.

She emphasized her commitment to community, saying, "I like finding a need in the community and helping ... reach those needs."
