Lexington-based mattress maker Tempur-Pedic International announced Thursday it will donate beds to Ronald McDonald Family Room locations at hospitals across the country.
The donation builds on a previous commitment made by Tempur-Pedic to provide mattresses to U.S. Ronald McDonald Houses, which are located near hospitals and assist families of sick children. The company said it will complete those donations by the end of the year.
The Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are in hospitals, just steps away from pediatric care units. There are four such rooms in Kentucky, including one at the Kentucky Children's Hospital in Lexington.
Rick Anderson, president of Tempur-Pedic North America, said in a statement that the company is "pleased to have the opportunity to continue our support ... so we can help provide comfort to families in their time of need."
