A digital mammography suite was dedicated Tuesday at St. Joseph-Jessamine Ambulatory Care Center in Nicholasville.
The St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, part of KentuckyOne Health, got a gift from railroad executive R.J. Corman to bring digital mammography services to St. Joseph-Jessamine. The gift, made in honor of Corman's sister, created the Sandra J. Adams Digital Mammography Suite.
This is the first time mammography has been available at the center, which provides access to care for people in Jessamine and surrounding counties. St. Joseph-Jessamine expects to perform 10,000 mammograms over the next 10 years. Special arrangements can be made for women who are uninsured or unable to afford a mammography.
