■ Equus Run Vineyards, established in 1998, is celebrating its 15th year as one of the oldest commercial wineries in Kentucky. Located in Midway, the vineyard is open year around and hosts events, weddings, tastings and music throughout the year. ■ Isaac Fedyniak, an engineer at Big Ass Fans, has been named a recipient of Consulting-Specifying Engineer's 2013 40 Under 40 Award. The list is published annually and recognizes building industry professionals ages 40 and younger who stand out in all aspects of their lives. Fedyniak, who recently began developing a new building solutions division at Big Ass Fans, has been involved in projects including several of the first facilities in the country to be termed net-zero for generating as much energy or more as they use. Fedyniak also volunteers as the industry liaison for Transylvania University's Sustainability Council. In that role, he wrote the university's Climate Action Plan and advises on greenhouse gas mitigation efforts. Individuals named to Consulting-Specifying Engineer's 40 Under 40 list were nominated by professional colleagues or mentors and judged based on commitment to excellence in their academic, professional, personal and community involvement.
■ Gannett Fleming and Kentucky American Water have received a Grand Honor Award in the American Council of Engineering Cos. of Kentucky (ACEC-KY) 2013 Engineering Excellence Awards program for design and construction of the Kentucky River Station II Water Treatment Plant in Owenton.
