The AIF Designation signifies specialized knowledge of fiduciary responsibility and the ability to implement policies and procedures that meet a defined standard of care. Southern Comfort Managing Director Mark Bacon and Southern Comfort have been voted as Brand Genius Award recipients for 2013 by Adweek. The Adweek Brand Genius Award is widely regarded as the industry's top honor in terms of recognizing the best of marketing and brand-building efforts over the preceding year.

Bacon has been named for his efforts in leading the Southern Comfort brand through its recent revitalization in tandem with the "Whatever's Comfortable" campaign. The awards ceremony will take place in New York City on Sept. 25. Other winners include marketing executives from Volkswagen, Dick's Sporting Goods, Samsung and the National Football League.

■ The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment Department of Animal and Food Sciences has inducted Warren Beeler into its Hall of Fame and awarded the Distinguished Alumna Award to Margaret Benson. In January, Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer appointed Beeler as the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's director of Ag Policy. Prior to his appointment, Beeler helped establish and advance the Kentucky Proud program. Benson, who earned a doctorate degree in ruminant nutrition at UK in 1984, currently serves as the chair of the Department of Animal Sciences at Washington State University.

Baptist Health Lexington has received the Get With The Guidelines—Heart Failure Bronze Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association. The recognition signifies that Baptist Health Lexington has reached a goal of treating heart failure patients for at least 90 days with 85 percent compliance to core standard levels of care outlined by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology secondary prevention guidelines for heart failure patients.
