Lexington will have a third restaurant week, 10 days of special $25 dinners at city restaurants, from Thursday, July 24, through Saturday, Aug. 2.

The first, Beyond Grits: Lexington Restaurant Week, was a hit this summer, with 43 restaurants drawing enthusiastic crowds. It was sponsored by the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Last week, Alltech sponsored Dine Lexington! Restaurant Week in conjunction with the Alltech National Horse Show, with diners who ate at 37 par ticipating restaurants eligible for half-price admission to the horse show.

The third restaurant week, which is not affiliated with the visitors bureau, also will include locally owned and operated Lexington restaurants.

Marketing spokeswoman Connie Jo Miller of Group CJ said in a news release that next summer's event would be bigger and better.

"We're going to take everything to another level in act two," she said. "More restaurants, more variety, new participation from music and arts groups, and basically more wow."

More than 50 restaurants are signed up, she said. The list of participating restaurants will be posted to Lexrestaurants.com.

BB&T Bank will be the lead sponsor. Media partners will be the Herald-Leader and WKYT-TV (Channel 27).
