Herald-Leader names new vice president of audience development

The Herald-Leader has named Aaron Kotarek its new vice president of audience development to oversee its circulation, distribution and audience growth efforts.

"He emerged from a field of competitive candidates with his broad experience and his accomplishments achieved in audience development with an emphasis on growth in a very competitive market in Southern California," Herald-Leader Publisher Rufus Friday wrote in a memo to employees on Wednesday.

Kotarek has most recently been vice president of circulation and distribution for the Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif. He also has worked at the The Record of Stockton, Calif.; the Savannah Morning News in Georgia; the Dayton Daily News in Ohio; and Thomson Wisconsin Newspapers.

A native of Manitowoc, Wisc., Kotarek is a graduate of Marian College in Fond du Lac, Wisc.
