■ Mark Lucas, a three-decade veteran of Centre classrooms and a mainstay of the English program, has been named the 2013 Council for Advancement and Support of Education Kentucky Professor of the Year. Centre leads the Commonwealth in CASE Kentucky Professor of the Year Awards. Lucas follows four other members of Centre's faculty who share the honor: Professor of Religion Tom MCollough (2012); Professor of French and German Ken Keffer (2010); Professor of Music Emeritus Vince DiMartino (2004); and Professor of Art Stephen Powell (1999 and 2000).
■ Van Meter Insurance, an independent insurance brokerage, was ranked 28 in the country as the largest 100 percent privately owned insurance agencies by the Insurance Journal. The company has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years in all areas and has moved up two spots over last year's ranking of 30. Each year, Insurance Journal posts the rankings for the Top 100 Property/Casualty Independent Agencies and is solely comprised of privately-owned firms. ■ iwin is seeking applicants for the Dr. Lee T. Todd Jr. Workplace Research to Practice Award. This award evaluates perspectives on the nine dimensions of iwin's Innovative Workplace Model. The recipient will receive a waived membership fee to participate in the Innovative Employer Roundtable for one year and will gain insight into innovative workplace practices that bridge research and practice.

■ LexArts has recognized the employees of Fifth Third Bank (Kentucky) as part of the Association of Fundraising Professionals' National Philanthropy Day Celebration. Fifth Third Bank employees contributed $21,860 during the 2013 LexArts Workplace Giving campaign. This marks the largest one-time Workplace Giving donation that LexArts has received in its 41-year history.
The LexArts Workplace Giving Program is integral to the success of the annual Fund for the Arts campaign. In this program, LexArts partners with local businesses to provide the opportunity for employees to easily contribute to the campaign. In addition to supporting the campaign financially, employees have the chance to learn about their arts community and the many different opportunities it provides.
In addition to its employee gifting, Fifth Third Bank is consistently one of LexArts' top corporate donors and was a Corporate Pacesetter in the 2013 campaign.
