Lexington: The 12th annual Lexington Bluegrass Area Minority Business Expo will be Thursday and Friday at the Lexington Convention Center. The conference kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Thursday with a session for diversity managers and small business service providers. A free public reception will be 5:30 to 8 p.m. Chris Rabb, author of Invisible Capital: How Unseen Forces Shape Entrepreneurial Opportunity, will speak at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The keynote speaker at this year’s luncheon is Wil James, president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky. An exhibition and trade show will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Breakout sessions begin at 9 a.m. Topics include: exporting, the Affordable Care Act, funding, how to do business with the state and federal government, how to start a business and how to form strategic alliances and joint ventures.
From 2:30 to 4 p.m. Friday, the One-on-One Opportunity Exchange provides minority and female business owners an opportunity to have private meetings with government procurement officers and private and corporate buyers.
