■ Carla Mays of Beattyville has been given the first-annual Experience Works Humanitarian Award for her lifetime humanitarian achievements from Experience Works, a national nonprofit organization that provides employment, training and community service opportunities for older individuals. Experience Works operates in 30 states, including 50 Kentucky counties, and Puerto Rico.
Mays has been an Experience Works employee for 35 years and currently serves as the manager of the Experience Works National Customer Service Center in Beattyville. She leads a team of more than 300 who help guide 15,000 older workers nationwide. To find out more, go to Experienceworks.org.
■ Ruth Brinkley, president and CEO of KentuckyOne Health, has been named one of the Top 25 Minorities in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare, which honors minority executives who are influencing policy and care models.
Brinkley, who has led KentuckyOne since January 2012, was last included on this list in 2010.

She also serves as the senior vice president of operations at Catholic Health Initiatives.
Brinkley was also recently recognized among 130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know and the 500+ People to Know in Healthcare by Becker's Hospital Review.
