Bluegrass Community and Technical College's Winchester-Clark County Campus will offer a Welder Helper Certificate beginning Jan. 12. Students enrolled in the certificate program will learn the art of shielded metal arc welding. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Clark County Area Technology Center, 2748 Boonesboro Road, Winchester. The lecture and the lab will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Dean Dorton Allen Ford is holding its 10th annual Accounting and Ethics Update from 8 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Marriott Griffin Gate, 1800 Newtown Pike. This annual event includes an update on the latest financial and governmental accounting changes. Emerging issues like lease accounting, revenue recognition, private company accounting, and International Financial Accounting Standards will be discussed.
This year Dean Dorton will offer a two-hour ethics update as licensed CPAs need to be ever-mindful of applicable professional ethics standards. This presentation will review key components of the AICPA Code of Professional Ethics, share current AICPA guidance for members in public practice and in industry, and discuss evolving ethical issues related to social media. The ethics update fulfills KY State Board of Accountancy requirements for ethics training.
Also, for the first time, this year's Accounting & Ethics Update will be paperless. Electricity will be provided for participants during the day. Classes are free and will allow up to 8 hours of CPE.
