Keeneland and Turf Catering announced on Wednesday that the track will acquire Turf Catering's Keeneland division, effective Feb. 1.
But the bread pudding with Maker's Mark bourbon sauce and burgoo — two of the track's signature recipes — won't change, according to Keeneland.
Turf Catering, owned by the Wolken family since 1929, has been Keeneland's exclusive food and beverage company since the track opened in 1936. After three generations, the Wolken family will exit the arrangement and current Turf Catering employees at the track now will work for Keeneland Hospitality.
"Turf Catering and the Wolken family have provided Keeneland with a great level of professional services these past 78 years," Keeneland president and CEO Bill Thomason said. "It has been a phenomenal relationship on both sides, and we appreciate what their family has meant to Keeneland. They are responsible for assembling a talented team that will continue to build on their success."
