■ The official ground breaking for Alltech's Dueling Barrels Brewing & Distilling Co. in Pikeville was held July 30. It will be located at 745 Hambley Boulevard, next to Jenny Wiley Theatre at 218 Second Street. The new venue will include both a brewery and distillery at the site. The distillery will represent a sophisticated moonshine distillery with a visitors center. The visitor experience will celebrate Appalachian history and the role of moonshine. The facility will produce Dueling Barrels Bourbon, Dueling Barrels Moonshine and Pikeville Ale.
■ Kentucky Bancshares, Paris, the holding company of Kentucky Bank, has completed the acquisition of Madison Financial Corporation of Richmond, into Kentucky Bancshares. Following the acquisition, Madison Bank, formerly a wholly-owned subsidiary bank of Madison Financial Corp., was merged into Kentucky Bank. The three former locations of Madison Bank will be operated as financial centers of Kentucky Bank.
■ Internet users can now take a virtual 360-degree tour of all three Lexington Center venues: Rupp Arena, the Lexington Opera House and the Lexington Convention Center, thanks to Google Business Views. The interactive tours allow users to virtually travel from the highest seat in Rupp Arena down to the Kentucky Wildcats center court, across the historic Lexington Opera House stage, and throughout the Lexington Convention Center exhibit and meeting spaces.
