J. Alexander's, an upscale casual dining restaurant, will open at The Summit at Fritz Farm, now under construction at Nicholasville Road and Man o' War Boulevard.
J. Alexander's, which is scheduled to open in October 2016, will be more than 8,000 square feet with seating for more than 220 guests, according to a news release Friday. The Nashville-based J. Alexander's operates "contemporary American restaurants known for wood-fired cuisine" in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas. It has a location in Louisville. Its menu features steaks, prime rib of beef and fresh seafood.
In 2012, J. Alexander's was among the nine chain restaurants cited by Consumer Reports for factors including taste, value, service and mood.
The Summit will include national brands and local boutiques, hospitality, recreation, home goods, a boutique hotel and 306 apartments. Developers of The Summit announced in July that the Pottery Barn would open a location there. Whole Foods is also moving from Lexington Green to The Summit.
The Summit will also have a 125-seat restaurant owned by Midway-based chef Ouita Michel. Michel said in July that the restaurant's concept would be local food, local agricultural ingredients and local recipes, with a background of Kentucky pottery, art and music.
Athenian Grill, owned locally by Ilias Pappas, also will have a restaurant there, and so will Babalu, a Mississippi-based tapas eatery.
