Construction is set to begin on J. Alexander’s, an upscale restaurant coming to The Summit at Fritz Farm. According to a building permit filed with the city, the restaurant will be at 4081 Finn Way, with estimated construction costs of more than $3.5 million.

The 8,100-square-foot restaurant is scheduled to open in October, according to the announcement made last August, with seating for more than 220 customers. Nashville-based J. Alexander’s offers contemporary American food, much of it wood-fired, and features steaks, prime rib and seafood, sandwiches and entree salads. J. Alexander’s also will have a full-service bar, and wines by the glass and bottle.

The company has restaurants in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas. There is a Redlands Grill by J. Alexander’s in Louisville.

Other restaurants at The Summit will include Honeywood by local chef Ouita Michel; Shake Shack; Steel City Pop’s; Ted’s Montana Grill; and a food hall to showcase local purveyors, including Crank & Boom and Athenian Grill.

The Bayer Properties development at Nicholasville and Man o’ War also will include 280,000 square feet of retail space for shops including Whole Foods and Pottery Barn, a 120-room boutique hotel, 306 condo-quality apartments and 45,000 square feet of office space.
