Rincon Mexicano on Euclid Avenue is gone for good; the family that owns the campus-area favorite has decided not to reopen, according to a spokeswoman.

Brittany Centers, spokeswoman for co-owner Veronica Salas, said Friday that the family had decided to close the restaurant permanently after 23 years “due to multiple factors.” She did not elaborate.

The Rincon Mexicano at 3901 Harrodsburg Road will remain open, and the family said they hope loyal customers will visit there.

The restaurant above Charlie Brown’s bar closed its doors on Sunday, July 31, but Salas held out hope earlier this week that it might reopen.

Salas, through the spokeswoman, said special thanks go to Dave Fuller, owner of Charlie Brown’s, “who has helped them for 23 years and blessed them with his friendship.”
