This fall, Eastern Kentucky University will offer courses that lead to a fermentation science concentration in the chemistry degree program. This new academic program, which is one of the first of its kind, will tap into a growing interesting in the state in craft brewing and distilling.
The University of Kentucky also offers classes toward a certification and Western Kentucky University is putting together a degree program.
Courses in EKU's program have been designed specifically to address quality control and other challenges facing the industry. And the program will involve EKU's Department of Agriculture in the growing of hops and other crops.
