The Bardstown Bourbon Co. announced Monday a partnership with Florida-based Mahalo Spirits Group to develop and launch new whiskey brands that will come from the new $25 million distillery under construction in Nelson County.
Mahalo Spirits, which helped create the marketing behind Angel's Envy Bourbon and Papa's Pilar Rum, will work with Steve Nally, a bourbon hall of fame master distiller, to create brands that will be announced later this year, according to a news release.
"We are changing the model for how innovative whiskey and bourbon products will be produced and brought to market," said David Mandell, president and CEO of The Bardstown Bourbon Co. "And we're building an experience in Bardstown unlike anything whiskey enthusiasts have ever experienced."
The 37,000-square-foot distillery will feature a custom-built Vendome still and a visitors center, event space, and eventually a restaurant and boutique hotel.
In June 2014, the distillery, which is expected to create 35 jobs with an average hourly wage of $25 including benefits, was given preliminary approval for as much as $1.3 million in tax incentives by the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority.
