The tropical temps and humidity remain from Alberto's brief stay in the area, and that will combine with another system rolling in to produce shower and storms later today, according to WKYT chief meteorologist Chris Bailey.
Some could be severe into the early hours of Friday. That means damaging winds and large hail are threats across western and Central Kentucky.
On his weather blog, Bailey looks ahead to Friday and the weekend when more storms could usher in cooler temperatures.
