Fayette district seeks public's ideas on names for two new elementary schools

The Fayette County school district is asking for help in naming two elementary schools set to open in fall 2016.

Online surveys have been launched so people in the community can submit their suggestions for the schools, which are under construction on Georgetown Road and Passage Mound Way.

The district's policy on naming facilities requires that school names be tied to geographical areas of Lexington or prominent deceased people who have contributed to the progress of Fayette County or the nation.

Each school will serve 650 students.

The surveys close Sept. 22.
