KCTCS appoints president of Jefferson Community and Technical College

Ty Handy has been appointed as president of Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville effective Jan. 1, Kentucky Community and Technical College System President Jay Box announced.

Handy has been president of Northwest Florida State College, in the Florida panhandle, since 2010. He also served as president of Vermont Technical College and as chancellor of Ivy Tech State College in Indiana. From 1993 to 1998, he was chief academic officer and dean for academic affairs at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.

Handy earned a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Memphis; a master's degree in business administration from Drexel University; and a bachelor's degree in finance from Western Kentucky University.
