Lexington attorney elected vice chairman of WKU board of regents

A Lexington attorney was elected vice chairman of the Western Kentucky University Board of Regents for the 2011-12 year.

J. David Porter was elected at the June 24 board meeting, a WKU news release said. His term on the Board ends in 2014.

Porter is based in Stites & Harbison's Lexington office and focuses on trusts and estate administration, estate planning and charitable giving, charitable and non-profit organizations, estate and gift taxes, probate and fiduciary law, according to the release.

He graduated from WKU and the University of Kentucky College of Law.

Freddie Higdon of Lebanon was elected chairman, and Dr. Melissa B. Dennison of Glasgow was named secretary.
