About 2,400 people, mostly in western Fayette County, lost power for about two hours Friday morning when a piece of equipment failed in the Parkers Mill area.
Kentucky Utilities spokesman Cliff Feltham said power went out at 8:20 a.m. and was restored in stages by 10:45 a.m.
The area affected was from Parkers Mill and Versailles roads outside New Circle to the county line, Feltham said.
