A Lexington woman was taken to the hospital after she was shot accidentally during an argument Wednesday night.
The woman, who was not named, was found lying in the street in front of 3673 Squires Woods Way near Richmond Road after someone called police, Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.
Police think the woman was trying to break up a fight between two men who were arguing shortly after 10 p.m. One of the men produced a handgun, which went off while the woman was trying to separate them, police said. She was shot once in the hip.
Her wound is not thought to be life-threatening.
