A Harlan County man who was having car trouble died after being hit by a truck in Knox County on Monday night.
Roger W. Woodard, 53, of Evarts had stopped on U.S. 25 East, the Cumberland Gap Parkway, after his car broke down, Knox County Deputy Coroner Floyd Blevins said.
Woodard had crossed the four-lane highway to go to a convenience store and was returning to his vehicle when he was hit by a pickup truck at about 10:30 p.m., Blevins said.
Woodard was pronounced dead at Knox County Hospital soon after the crash, he said.
Blevins said visibility was poor at the time of the crash, since it was raining.
