Eagle Watch Weekends, a Kentucky state park tradition, will be held this month and next at three parks in Western Kentucky.
Tours will provide wildlife watchers with opportunities to see bald eagles as they look for food and to learn about the eagles and other wildlife, according to the Kentucky Department of Parks.
The tours, on an excursion yacht and by van, will be led by state park naturalists and Department of Fish and Wildlife biologists. Parks holding the tours, their phone numbers, and the tour dates for each park are: Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, (1-800-325-0146), Jan. 20-22; Lake Barkley State Resort Park, (1-800-325-1708), Jan. 27-29; and Kenlake State Resort Park, (1-800-325-0143), Feb. 3-5.
Ticket prices range from $20 to $55 per person. In addition to the tours, which last from two to 3½ hours, the weekends include an evening program on birds of prey.
Participants are asked to bring warm clothes, rain gear and binoculars. For more information, go to www.parks.ky.gov and look for the "Park News" heading.
