Letcher man accused of starting fire with wife, baby inside home

A Jeremiah man was charged with arson and six counts of wanton endangerment after allegedly firing a shotgun in the direction of his wife and baby before setting their home on fire while the two were inside, Kentucky State Police said Tuesday.

Lawrence Eugene Halcomb, 28, was taken to the Letcher County Detention Center, police said.

Police were called about 3:50 p.m. Monday about a house fire on Ky. 7 in Jeremiah.

Halcomb's wife was holding their 9-month-old when he allegedly fired, police said.
