Second pedestrian killed in Lexington in two days

A pedestrian was killed Monday night crossing a major Lexington street outside of the crosswalk, city police said.

The pedestrian, who was not identified in a Lexington police news release, was crossing Nicholasville Road about 11:45 p.m. near Zandale Drive. The pedestrian was struck by a 2009 Toyota Camry driven by Suresh Subba, police said. Subba was inbound.

The pedestrian died at the scene.

The death was Lexington's second pedestrian fatality in two days. Justin DeMarcus Conover, 33, died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital late Sunday after he was hit by a sport-utility vehicle on Richmond Road. Conover was crossing the street outside the crosswalk when he was struck. A second vehicle hit Conover after he "slid" off the SUV.
