Child's broken arm leads to abuse charge in Richmond

A child who suffered a broken bone in June is at the center of a criminal-abuse charge against a Richmond woman, police said Friday.

Kayleigh Norris, 22, was charged Wednesday in connection with a 2012 incident. On June 9, police were summoned to Baptist Health Richmond to investigate a report of a 20-month-old child with a suspicious bone fracture.

It was later determined that the child had a broken humerus or upper arm bone, and that the child had suffered two previous broken bones, police said.

The child was in the care of Norris at the time of the injuries, Richmond police said.
