The inner loop of New Circle Road between Versailles Road and Old Frankfort Pike will be closed during rush hour Tuesday while crews clean up a large paint spill.
About 3:20 p.m., the Lexington fire department responded to a report that 150 gallons of paint had spilled from barrels that fell off a truck near the exit ramp to Versailles Road, Battalion Chief Joe Best said.
Hazardous materials crews were cleaning up the mess. The road was expected to be closed until at least 7:30 p.m., city officials said.
Detour and warning signs were being deployed, city spokeswoman Susan Straub said.
