Five people charged in federal drug trafficking case

Members of a large scale drug trafficking operation dispatched tractor trailers from Nicholasville to transport illegal drugs across the country, federal law enforcement authorities alleged in court documents this week.

Five people were charged Monday in U.S. District Court in Lexington with the operation which had begun at least by April 2012 and continued through Sunday, according to U.S. District court records.

Gerardo Perez, Tonya Jean Jackson, Robert C. Werner, Jose Rangel, and Cesar Gamez Reyes, were charged with conspiracy to distribute five or more kilograms of cocaine and conspiracy to distribute 1,000 or more kilograms of marijuana, court documents said.
