Cyclist treated for severe injuries after hit by car in Danville

A bicyclist was seriously injured after he was struck by a car Wednesday night, Danville police said.

The man was taken by ambulance to Junction City Airport where he was then airlifted to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with possible life-threatening injuries, police said. Police did not release his identity and his condition could not be determined Thursday morning.

The bicyclist was crossing U.S, 127 south when he was struck by a southbound 2002 Volvo driven by Denise Darland of Junction City, police said.

The collision was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday just south of Popplewell Lane.
