Lawrence Co. man found guilty of five counts relating to child pornography

A Lawrence County man has been found guilty of five counts involving child pornography.

Edgar Purdom, 69, was found guilty Wednesday of four counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and one count of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. The guilty verdict follows an investigation by Kentucky's Attorney General Jack Conway's Cybercrimes Unit that began in February 2013.

The jury recommended Purdom serve a three-year prison sentence for each count to run consecutively for a total of 15 years. Purdom was taken into custody. He is scheduled to be formerly sentenced on Dec. 30.

A Lawrence County grand jury indicted Purdom on Jan. 14. Lawrence County is in the extreme northeast corner of the state.
