A Harrison County High School junior died Saturday in a single-vehicle crash as he was on his way to take an ACT exam, the county coroner said.
Colton Lane Burus, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene on Ky. 3044 near Sadieville, Harrison County Coroner Tom Ware said. Burus died after the vehicle he was driving ran off the road. Ware's son, Deputy Coroner Thomas Ware, pronounced the teen dead at the scene. The crash happened at 7:30 a.m.
Tom Ware said he didn't know where the ACT exam was to be taken.
Burus was a two-time state level athlete in the 110-meter hurdles for the high school track team, Ware said. Burus was also an honor student in advanced placement classes, Junior ROTC flight commander and color guard commander.
