Both lanes of westbound Interstate 64 were reopened 9:54 a.m. Thursday after they were closed due to an accident near the Franklin and Woodford county line involving a tractor-trailer and a box truck.
Both westbound lanes were closed at the U.S. 60 exit 58 during much of the morning rush-hour, but the left lane was opened at 8:26 a.m.
Kentucky State Police spokeswoman Kendra Wilson said an accident reconstruction team was investigating the crash.
Wilson said the box truck was traveling in the left lane Thursday morning when it drifted into the rear driver's side of the tractor-trailer, which was in the right lane.
The driver of the box truck was at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, in critical condition. The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The crash caused delays along the interstate for several hours.
