Award applications are now available for Lexington employers interested in applying for the Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. The Sloan Awards are part of When Work Works, a national, community-based initiative to highlight the importance of workplace flexibility as a strategy to enhance businesses' competitive advantage in the global economy and to help both employers and employees succeed. Lexington was selected as one of 30 cities nationally to participate in the program.
The short, free application process includes an online questionnaire for employers. Employers who apply will be benchmarked against national standards, and the top 20 percent will be recognized as Sloan Award winners in a full-page advertisement in USA Today, the Congressional Record, local media and at a local award ceremony. All employer applicants will also receive benchmarking reports that can be used in promotional materials or used as tools to shape business practices.
