Reader wins WWE tickets

Chris Thompson, an eighth-grader at LeGrande Elementary School in Horse Cave, was one of four regional winners in the 2008 WWE WrestleMania Reading Challenge sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association and World Wrestling Entertainment. Each finalist won tickets to WrestleMania XXIV on March 30 in Orlando, Fla., plus airfare, accommodations and spending cash for two; $2,000 for their library; and a chance to compete for ringside seats.

The contest was open to students at participating libraries in two divisions: grades 7 and 8 and grades 9 through 12. Chris was a regional winner in the grade 7-8 division. Students had to submit a reading log of 10 items and a short essay about how the WrestleMania Reading Challenge inspired them to read.
