Managing diabetes

The Woodford County Health Department will offer a free diabetes self-management education class from9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Health Department, 229 North Main Streetn in Versailles. Participants will receive information on healthy eating, taking medication correctly, physical activity, coping with diabetes, reducing risks of complications, and problem-solving for low and high blood sugars. Hypertufa class

Woodford County Cooperative Extension will offer a class on hypertufa planters 6:30 to 8 p.m. June 23 at the Agriculture Resource Building, 184 Beasley Road in Versailles. A $15 fee is due by Monday. A supply list will be provided with registration. Call (859) 873-4601.

Snakes at the library

The Woodford County Library, 115 North Main Street, Versailles, will host the following free events. Call (859) 873-5191.

■ David Duggan will share his collection of local and exotic snakes at a summer snake show at 2 p.m. Thursday.

■ Learn the basics of buying and selling on eBay at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Cats, two for one

During June, National Adopt-a-Cat Month, the Woodford Humane Society, 265 Thomas Lane, will offer two cats for one adoption fee. Each adopted cat is spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, wormed and micro-chipped. Cats also are tested for feline leukemia and screened for feline immuno­deficiency virus. All pets come with a coupon for a free rabies shot, a free visit to a participating vet clinic and a free month of pet insurance.
