High school band dinner, auction

The West Jessamine High School Band will host a dinner and silent auction from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the City/County Park Blue Building. Menu items include smoked tenderloin, green beans, slaw, salad, rolls, dessert and drink. Advance tickets are $10 adult and $5 child, or $12 at the door. Awareness rally

An Addiction/Recovery Awareness Rally will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Jessamine County Courthouse. The rally begins with a march down Main Street for the families and victims of substance abuse. Live music, speakers and food will follow. Call (859) 489-6557.

Daniel Boone extravaganza

Learn about Daniel Boone and other Jessamine County explorers and pioneers at the Daniel Boone Extravaganza at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Jessamine County Public Library, 600 South Main Street, Nicholasville. The day will feature dramatized presentations by members of the Jessamine County Historical Society in period costume, Americana music and an artifact display. ■ The Kentucky Blood Center mobile unit will welcome donors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday.

■ Summer Storytime for Little Ones will be 10:30 a.m. Monday for kids up to age 5.

■ Mad Science of Kentucky: defy gravity, create rainbows in mega-size test tubes, and produce foam bursts that reach the sky during ”Spin, Pop, Boom“ at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Summer concert

The free Stonebridge Summer Concert Series continues with the Katie Penn Bluegrass Band at 7 p.m. Saturday on the downtown green in Wilmore. Tables and chairs provided. Refreshments available.
