graduations

■ Army Pvt. Dwight H. McCarty recently graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. McCarty is the son of Calvin McCarty of Nicholasville and Sharon McCarty of Perryville. He graduated from Tates Creek High School in 2004.

■ Army Pvt. Geremy P. Jones has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. He is the grandson of Nancy Jones of Richmond.

■ Army Pvt. Joshua J. Haight has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is brother of Jennifer Haight of Lexington.

enlistments

■ Casey W. Spencer has joined the Army under the Delayed Entry Program. Spencer, now attending West Jessamine High School, will report to Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C., for basic training in June. He is the son of Rebecca J. Evans of Nicholasville and Anthony W. Spencer of Lexington.

promotions

■ Navy Cmdr. Terry W. Pulliam assumed command of the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit at a ceremony at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington State. The ceremony, held in the Skywarrior Theater on the base, also welcomed aboard a new executive officer, Cmdr. David A. Latosky.

Pulliam is a 1977 graduate of Bourbon County High School and is the son of Sylvia Katherine Jackson of Lexington. He and his wife, Rowena, have three children, Maddy, Chris and Andrew.
