Summer Camps 2009

Sure, your kids can learn how to swim and make crafts at summer camp — but pilot an airplane?

At Central Kentucky camps this summer the wide variety of activities includes everything from learning pageant presentation to robotics, Spanish, music theory, farming, horseback riding (OK, no surprise there), bowling and computer programming.

How do you choose? The American Camp Association (www.camparents.org) suggests having a discussion with your children to determine their interests, talking to other parents about their experiences in selecting camps and starting early with making your choice.

The National Camp Association (www.summercamp.org) offers specific suggestions on overnight camps for kids, along with a summer camp jobs listing.

And most important, remember that summer camp is about having fun.
