Graduations

■ Army Pvt. Timothy W. Curtis graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox. He is the son of Ledford W. Curtis of Lexington and Bethany L. Workman of Paris and a 2002 Bourbon County High School graduate.

■ Army National Guard Pvt. Ty N. Corriveau graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the stepson of James Toomey of Winchester and a 2009 George Rogers Clark High School graduate.

Recent graduates of Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio:

■ Air Force Airman 1st Class Erin M. Sherman graduated from basic military training. She is the daughter of Diana Sherman of Lexington. She is a 2007 graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.

■ Air Force Airman Sammy R. Skeans Jr. graduated from basic military training.

He is the son of Sammy Skeans of Prestonsburg, and Clarissa Carpenter of Lexington. He is a 2008 graduate of Prestonsburg High School.

Deployments

The following members of the 2123rd Transportation Co. in Richmond have been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom:

■ Army National Guard Spec. Kenneth L. Deckert, a motor transport operator, is the son of Kenneth G. and Sharon F. Deckert of Richmond. He is a 2007 graduate of Madison Central High School.

■ Army National Guard Spec. Robert C. Powell, a wheeled vehicle mechanic, is the son of Robert T. Powell of Waco, and is a 1999 graduate of Rockcastle County High School.

■ Army National Guard 2nd Lt. Kristopher R. Karr, an operations officer from Richmond, is a 1998 graduate of Model Laboratory High School and earned a bachelor's degree in 2006 from Eastern Kentucky University.

■ Army National Guard Spec. William Hull, a wheeled vehicle mechanic, is from Richmond.

■ Army National Guard Sgt. David E. Coyle, a unit supply sergeant from Erlanger, is the son of Hansel E. Coyle of Richmond, and is a 1998 graduate of Madison Central High School.

■ Army National Guard Sgt. David A. Price, a motor transport operator from Richmond, is a 1985 graduate of Madison Central High School.

■ Army National Guard Spec. Todd J. Lafferty, a motor transport operator, is the son of Thomas D. and Regena A. Lafferty of Georgetown. He graduated in 1998 from Prestonsburg High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2008 from St. Leo University, Fla.

■ Army National Guard 2nd Lt. Gus E. LaFontaine, a motor transport operator, is the son of Edward LaFontaine and Deborah Livingston, both of Berea. He graduated in 1998 from Madison Southern High School, Berea, and EKU, where he received a bachelor's degree in 2006 and a master's degree in 2007.

■ Army National Guard 2nd Lt. Hershel N. Anglin, a platoon leader, is the son of Hershel and Etta V. Anglin of Berea. He graduated in 1997 from Madison Southern High School and 2003 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.

■ Army National Guard Pfc. Carina L. Poe, a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialist, is the daughter of Marvin and Sandra L. Evans of Richmond. She is a 2006 graduate of Madison Christian Academy, Richmond.

■ Army National Guard Pfc. Casey M. Rhodes, a petroleum supply specialist, is a 2007 graduate of Madison Southern High School.

■ Army National Guard Spec. Matthew R. Gross, a motor transport operator, is the son of Barry and Ruth Gross of Richmond. He is a 2008 graduate of Madison Central High School.

■ Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Donald J. Hensley, a motor transport operator, is the son of Ellen M. Kiser of Paris, and is a 2005 graduate of Bourbon County High School.

■ Army National Guard Pfc. Paul E. Miller, a motor transport operator, is the son of Jerry Miller Jr. of Berea, and is a 1997 graduate of Jackson High School.

■ Army Spec. Mauricio A. Arias, a motor transport operator from Lexington, is also the recipient of an Army Achievement Medal.
