Lex-Care received two requests for help to pay rent last week.
Sandra Ballew-Barnes, a case manager at Breckinridge Family Resource Center, made a request for $300 on behalf of a married couple.
The couple paid for an attorney for their son who got into trouble. This unexpected expense caused them to fall behind on their rent and other bills. The husband is on temporary leave without pay, but will return to work before the end of the month.
The family has been approved for subsidized housing, which will result in lower housing costs.

Shannon Gordon, a social worker at the Senior Citizen Center, is working with a married couple who needs $250 to pay their rent.
The husband draws Social Security benefits and the wife lost her job. The loss of her income caused them to get behind in their rent.
Once the rent is paid they will be able to manage on the husband's benefits until the wife starts working again.
