■ Army National Guard Pvt. Ashley L. Harrison has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. She is the daughter of Ronnie Harrison of Lancaster, and Denise Wyman of Nicholasville and is a 2006 graduate of Jessamine County Adult Education School.

■ Army Pfc. Aaron M. Murphy has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Mike and Linda Murphy of Berea, and is a 2009 graduate of Madison Southern High School.

The following Air Force airmen have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas:

Justin A. Baldwin, the son of Mayra and Wayne Baldwin of Berea, is a 2005 of Berea Community School and a 2009 graduate of Berea College.

Michael A. Blanton, the son of Todd and Billie Blanton of Nicholasville is a 2009 graduate of East Jessamine High School.


James M. Davis has been promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.

Davis is an aerospace maintenance home station check section chief assigned to the 437th Airlift Wing at Charleston Air Force Base, S.C. The sergeant has served in the military for 10 years .

He is the son of Mike and Anola Davis, and the grandson of William and Esther Davis, all of Berea. The master sergeant is a 1999 graduate of Berea Community High School.


■ MSGT. Benjamin E. Rose, son of Shirley J. Rose of Lexington, will retire from the United States Air Force on Oct. 1 after 24 years of service. He lives with his wife, Martha, and daughter, Brennan, in Tucson, Ariz. Ben graduated from Henry Clay High School in 1986. Sergeant Rose has been stationed at air bases in Japan, Florida, Korea, New Mexico, and Arizona. He has been deployed to Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Afghanistan. While deployed in Italy, Ben directly supported missions in the former Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia.
