Fayette County: Circus at Rupp this weekend

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will be in Lexington Friday through Sunday at Rupp Arena. Before the show you can join the pachyderms for the Elephants Brunch, 11 a.m. Friday at Triangle Park. Bring along a lunch to this free event and watch the elephants eat theirs.

Johnson Brothers at Thursday Night Live

Thursday Night Live, a free outdoor concert and party at Cheapside Park, 215 West Main Street, is 4:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday. This week's band is The Johnson Brothers. Food and beverage booths will be open at the event.

Jim Host to speak at Sanders-Brown gala

Jim Host, former chairman of the World Games 2010 Foundation, the organization responsible for planning and conducting the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, will be the guest speaker for the University of Kentucky Sanders-Brown Center on Aging Foundation's 24th annual dinner, Sept. 7 at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort. Host also is founder, former chairman and CEO of Host Communications.

During the dinner, senior stars and centenarians from across Kentucky will be recognized.
